World Photography Day celebrated in Dibrugarh, Assam

DIBRUGARH, AUG 19: Along with rest of the world, the World Photography Day was celebrated by the Photographers Society Dibrugarh at the Sahitya Sabha bhawan in Dibrugarh on Saturday.

State minister of Industries and Commerce and Public Enterprises & Cultural Affairs Bimal Borah inaugurated a photo exhibition organised on the occasion. Over two hundred photographs clicked by various photographers were put on display in the exhibition. A huge crowd of photography enthusiasts were seen thronging the exhibition. The photo exhibition will run till Sunday.

A souvenir titled “Viewfinder” edited by veteran photographers Saurav Duarah and Pronib Das was also released on the occasion. Apart from state minister Bimal Borah, Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmall Kanoi College Principal Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia and Dibrugarh Press Club President Prabir Chakravarty also delivered their speech about the significance of World Photography Day.

On the other hand, the Centre for Studies in Journalism and Mass Communication in association with Sony India Pvt. Ltd. organized a workshop on “Modern Filmmaking Techniques”, hosted by Punit Sabnani, Senior Product Specialist from Sony, at Indira Miri Conference Hall, Dibrugarh University on August 18.

Sabnani holds two world records in photography in the year 2018 and 2020 respectively.The workshop was aimed at unveiling the essence of modern filmmaking and critical thinking among the students and other attendees. DU photo fest 2023 was also organised by CSJMC on the occasion of world photography day.
