Indian Coast Gaurd Personnel in Gujarat Awarded Tatrakshak Medal by President

On the occasion of 74th Republic Day, the President of India awarded Tatrakshak Medals to the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) personnel. Out of total 06 such medals, two personnel have been awarded for their valiant and meritorious act in the state.

Mohit Kumar Yadav, Uttam Navik of ICG is a qualified Aircrew Diver and is presently posted at Porbandar. On 06 July 2022, Mohit Kumar was one of the aircrew of ALH MkIII helicopter which was tasked to rescue 22 personnel from a sinking Merchant Tanker Global King which was 180 kms into sea. In extremely rough sea conditions, disregarding his own safety; Mohit courageously rescued all 22 personnel. He has been awarded Tatrakshak Medal gallantry for his exemplary courage and selflessness in adverse conditions.

Sant Lal, P/Adh (RO), a Sub-ordinate Officer of ICG has been awarded Tatrakshak Medal for his three decades of meritorious and unblemished service in ICG. The Subordinate Officer joined Indian Coast Guard Service on 12 May 1988 and presently posted at ICGS Veraval. During his service of more than three decades, the Subordinate officer has displayed unmatched commitment and professionalism whilst serving in different capacities both in frontline platforms and at Headquarters level.
