Nagaland polls: PM Narendra Modi slams Cong for neglecting Nagaland

Guwahati, Feb 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday criticised Congress for neglecting Nagaland and Northeast during their regime.

Addressing a poll rally at Chumoukedima in Nagaland, PM Modi said, “The Congress leader in Delhi never looked towards Nagaland, and never gave importance to stability and prosperity in the state. Congress always ran the Nagaland government on remote control from Delhi,”.

“During Congress rule, their leaders only intention was to full their own pocket. They used the Northeast as their ATM. Our government is giving free ration to thousand of families in Nagaland. This is happening because we don’t consider the right states of Northeast as ATMs as the Congress party did. For us, the right Northeast states are ‘Ashta Lakshmi”, PM Modi asserted.

He said, “The BJP led NDA government has changed the political thinking of Delhi. BJP with the help of technology waged a war on Corruption and now people are getting all benefits. Our government has given Rs 400 crore under PMAGY and direct cash was disbursed to their bank account. During COVID, we stand together with the people,”.

“The BJP’s mantra for Nagaland has been peace, progress and prosperity which resulted in the rise of the party and growing trust of the people of the state in it. The BJP-led NDA government at the Centre is committed to bring permanent peace in Nagaland and completely lift AFSPA from the state,” Modi claimed.

He further added, “Earlier politics divide Northeast and now politic of divine governance model has been established in the Northeast. We are committed to work for the development of the Northeast. Under Udan scheme we have connected Dimapur with the eight Northeast states,”.

He said, “After March 2, the NDA government will take strict action against extortion activities. No one who extort money from people will be spread,”

Top BJP leader and NDPP leaders including Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rip and deputy CM Y Patton were present at the PM Modi rally.

The 60-member Nagaland assembly will go for polls on February 27 and the counting of votes will be done on March 2.
