Guwahati: The virus of communal disharmony must be killed immediately from Manipur to restore normalcy there, Assam Tea Tribes Students Association( ATTSA )said on July 22.

Violence continues in the northeastern Bharatiya Janata Party ruled state since ethnic clashes broke out in May this year .

“To save the coming generation from the deadly virus of communal disharmony, the intellectuals must come out and work together to prevent spreading violence there . Students, teachers, professors, writers and artists can play the everlasting role to restore peace there,” Irot Tanti, a senior ATTSA leader told Our India.

He said that the polarization of religion by a particular party for getting political mileage are the root cause of the violence that continues in Manipur.

“The leaders there must have strong will power to work to bring peace through table-talk . The issue of reservation and others must be solved honestly with mutual cooperation. No government, no army but they are the people of Manipur who can restore love , friendship and peace there . Door to door action plan is necessary,” Tanti added.

However, capital of Imphal witnessed fresh violence today as the women protestors blocked a main road in the Ghari reason by burning tyres.

Acting on the protest , the police and army and paramilitary forces rushed to the spot to disperse the protesters. They doused the fire and brought the situation under control.

Flag March is being conducted in several areas to maintain law and order.

Manipur is regarded as one of the highest educated state in the northeast.
