Central Minister Prakash Javadekar tested Covid positive

Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar on Friday (April 16) informed that he has tested positive for COVID-19. He urged everyone who came in his contact to get tested.  "I have tested #COVID positive today. All those who have come in contact with me in the last 2-3 days may please get themselves tested,” the BJP minister tweeted.  He had received his first jab of the COVID 19 vaccine last month at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune.

Government approved Sputnik-V vaccine in India

The government on Monday approved Sputnik-V, the vaccine against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) developed by Russia. This is the third vaccine approved by India after Covishield and Covaxin. Dr Reddy's Laboratories, the Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical company, last week sought the government's approval for the vaccine to be used in India. The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) partnered with Dr Reddy's in September 2020 to conduct clinical trials of Sputnik V in India. Gujarat reported 3,280 fresh coronavirus positive cases in the last 24 hours.

News Agencies: Gujarat reported 3,280 fresh coronavirus positive cases in the last 24 hours, the highest rise in a day, taking the tally of infections to 3,24,878 while 17 deaths pushed the toll to 4,598, the state health department said on Tuesday. Gujarat is now left with 17,348 active cases. Of the 17 fatalities, seven patients died each in Ahmedabad and Surat, while two succumbed to the infection in Rajkot and one died in Vadodara district.
