Assam CM attends Golden Jubilee Celebration of Bindhakata High School at Chabua

GUWAHATI, DEC 24: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday attended as Chief Guest the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Bindhakata High School at Chabua in Assam Dibrugarh district.

Correlating with the occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated the educational institution’s extended infrastructure addition that were built at a cost of ₹3 crore.

Sarma also inaugurated the 3.5 KV capacity gridless solar power production centre at the school premises and laid foundation stones for the gateway, concrete drainage system, among others.

Addressing the occasion, Chief Minister lauded the role of Bindhakata High School, which also happens to be an alma mater of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, in the spread of education in an interior location like Chabua for more than 50 years. He exuded confidence the educational institution, which he referred to as a centre that radiates knowledge and wisdom, would shine with even greater intensity in the field of education in days to come.

He asked the students of Bindhakata High School to walk hand-in-hand with their counterparts in other parts of Assam and States such as Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh by familiarising themselves with new-age technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, among others.

He appealed to them to shun the path of agitations and strikes and work towards an intellectual and educational revolution so as to ensure personal growth as well as that of the State and the nation.

Referring to them as “Amrit Santan” of Amrit Kaal, he said the students of today have a huge role to play in the country’s forward march in the next 25 years so that the nation can achieve its rightful heights on the 100th year of Independence. Adding that humble origin of a person cannot be a deterrent to him/her touching heights of glory and success, the Chief Minister appealed to the teachers to ensure the spirits of their students and their parents remain high at all times. For this, the teachers would have to play the role of motivator too, the Chief Minister added.

The young generations of Assam have immense talent and a proper channel needs to be provided to them so that they can be fruitfully utilised, the Chief Minister said. He said the society has heavy responsibility in ensuring the youth power of the State don’t go wayward.He expressed hopes that in days to come, Bindhakata High School would produce alumni who would go on to become doctors and engineers through their hard work and dedication.

CM also made an announcement of building a wildlife rehabilitation centre at Bindhakata at a cost of ₹100-150 crore. This would boost tourism potential of the region, the Chief Minister added.

Union Minister of Shipping, Ports & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of State for Petroleum Rameswar Teli, Assam Minister of Cultural Affairs Bimal Bora, Member of Parliament Pradan Barua, Members of Legislative Assembly Binod Hazarika, Prashanta Phukan and Punakon Barua, Assam Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Rituparna Barua, Assam Petrochemicals Chairman Bikul Deka, along with the faculties and students of the educational institute, among others, were also present during the Chief Minister’s visit.
