GUWAHATI, JAN 12: Tinsukia police seized 603 cartoons of Arunachal liquor and cash worth ₹ 86,33800 under Bordumsa police station in upper Assam Tinsukia district on Thursday.
Based on a reliable tipoff, police carried out an operation and successfully seized huge quantity of Arunachal liquor from a twelve wheeler truck.
Police have arrested eight persons from the truck and brought all of them to Bordumsa police station for investigation.
“A total of 603 cartoon of Arunachal liquor were confiscated from a twelve wheeler truck registration no(NL 01AE 5393) coming from Arunachal side. We have also seized cash worth ₹ 86, 33800 lakh and arrested eight persons,” said a police official at Bordumsa police station.
He said, “We have started our interrogation. The liquor were taken to Bihar from Arunachal Pradesh. Many liquor factories are set in Arunachal Pradesh and most of the times the liquor were smuggled to other states,”.
