Tripura: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma says BJP ready to resume talks with TIPRA Motha

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also an NEDA convenor on Saturday said talks between BJP and TIPRA Motha may resume but on the condition of undivided Tripura.

BJP had retain power in Tripura for the second consecutive term and now the party will forming government in Tripura. Sarma has arrived in Tripura on Saturday to discuss the party’s future plan on alliance with other regional parties.

Talking to reporters, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “This is a great victory and reaffirmation of faith on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The workers of Tripura BJP worked very hard and we are very grateful to them. We owe lot of our gratitude to the great people of Tripura.”

Sarma who led several rounds of negotiations with that party’s supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, said that talks can resume but on the condition that TIPRA Motha drop its demands for separate state.

“TIPRA Motha has raised certain issues for the development of the tribal people, without dividing the state of Tripura we are ready to sit down with them, talk with them and resolve the grievances of the tribal people but we cannot talk about Greater Tripuraland. Tripura will remain united, so within the greater Tripura whatever need to be talked, whatever need to be addressed both central government and state government will be ready that is my view,” stated Himanta Biswa Sarma.
